The two beloved puppet characters of our iconic Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu share their daily thoughts of wisdom, jokes, opinions and rants on events and people that made headlines in South Africa and around the world since 2009.

To mark the Archbishop 80th birthday and ZANEWS 2nd birthday, a portion of the sale of each DVD will go to the Desmond Tutu Peace Centre.

Following the success of the ZANews DVD volumes 1 and 2, ZANews pays a special tribute to the show’s favourite cast members, Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, aka “Tata & Tutu”. This “collector’s edition” DVD captures the indefatigable voices and ever-lasting essence of Madiba and the Arch through the wittiness of their comic puppet characters.

The World According to Tata & Tutu is a compilation of the best moments of ZANews endearing two wise and witty old men. Sitting in front of television in their imaginary lounge, Tata and Tutu discuss whatever subject is making the headlines in South Africa and the world: politics, arts, sports, the state of society and all issues, big and small, affecting our daily lives. From President Zuma’s family expansion to Malema’s millions, from the highs of the 2010 FIFA World Cup to the lows of service delivery, from Bono to Steve Hofmeyr, ZA News’ most popular puppets leave no stones unturned as they chat, bicker and pull each other’s legs over this 90 minute special DVD.

“Tutu meets Tutu 2” As a bonus feature, this DVD includes a special 26min video of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu meeting his latex twin in 2010 when the Tata and Tutu puppets went on an outing to the Tutu Foundation offices along with Nik Rabinowitz and producer / director Thierry Cassuto. When both Arches come face to face the result is non-stop stitch-provoking laughter and a Nobel prize winner quizzed by his own reflection!

As in South African politics there is never a dull moment on ZANews…because here…we can!
